The death of a person on a Scots railway line is being investigated by police.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene after a 'casualty' was spotted on the tracks this afternoon.
British Tranposrt Police (BTP) and paramedics were called to Stewarton station at 3.20pm on Friday.
The alarm was raised following reports of a ' casualty on the line'.
Emergency crews sadly pronounced the person dead at the scene.
Officer's are now working to identify the deceased and to reach out to their family.
BTP say the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A file will be prepared for the coroner.
A BTP spokeswoman told the Record: "Officers were called to the line in Stewarton at 3.20pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
ScotRail announced that all services between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock are suspended as a result of the tragic incident.
A statement from ScotRail read: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident in the Stewarton area and the line is blocked.
"Services between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock are suspended.
"Ticket acceptance will be withdrawn from 4.30pm."
