Death of woman found in car 'still unexplained' after post mortem as cops carry out 'extensive enquiries'

Mystery continues to surround the death of a woman who was discovered within a car in Glenrothes.

Jane Fitzpatrick's death is still being treated as "unexplained" following a post mortem examination.

The 48-year-old was found after emergency services raced to Cable Road in the town at around 9am on Monday, August 9.

A police cordon was put in place on Cable Road in Glenrothes (Fife Jammer Locations)

A police cordon was quickly put in place and forensic officers could be seen scouring the area as the road, leading towards a caravan park, was closed off.

Officers had hoped a post mortem would help them piece together what happened to Jane.

However, the death is still being treated as unexplained following a post mortem and police say "extensive enquiries" are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Following a post mortem examination, the death of the 48 year-old woman is still being treated as unexplained.

"Extensive enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death."
