An 87-year-old woman was found beaten to death Saturday in a senior living apartment building in the Douglas neighborhood on the South Side.

Mae Brown was found unresponsive in a wheelchair at the Lincoln Perry senior homes in the 3200 block of South Prairie Avenue about 3:40 p.m. after someone told police that they couldn’t reach her, police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and had trauma to her face and head area, according to a police report.

An autopsy determined Brown suffered injuries from an assault, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

No arrests have been made.
