Death of Omer Sadiq in Boydstone Road stabbing being treated as murder

A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a man found stabbed in Glasgow's south side.

Omer Sadiq was found by officers who were flagged down on Boydstone Road, near Silverburn shopping centre, around 1.25pm on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a short time later.

Police are now treating the death as murder and have said Mr Sadiq was targeted by his killers.

Detective Inspector Brian Gribbons, based at Govan CID, said: "We are following a positive line of enquiry however we would still appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact us.

"We believe this was a targeted attack and there was no wider risk to the public.

"Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1615 of 15 September."
