Body found in search of missing man Mark Russell as death being treated as 'unexplained'

The death of a man is being treated as unexplained after police found a body in Aberdeenshire.

Officers made the grim discovery on Tuesday night near St Fergus.

Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of missing man Mark Russell have been informed.

The 45-year-old had last been seen on Sunday, July 25, in the Crimond area and concerns were growing for his safety.

The A90 remained closed last night and earlier this afternoon as cops continued to probe the find.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ""The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"As with all unexplained deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
