Death of man, 23, pulled from Walton Hall Park lake treated as 'unexplained'

The death of a man who was pulled from a lake on Boxing Day is currently being treated as 'unexplained.'

Police confirmed a 23-year-old man was rescued from the water at Walton Hall Park and given CPR.

However the man was later pronounced dead at the scene, at around 8.58am, on Sunday, December 26.

A Merseyside police spokesperson this morning revealed they are still waiting for a post mortem to take place to establish the man's cause of death.

As a result, his death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing.

Members of the public, some of whom live near the park, have spoken of their sadness at the news of the death.

Tracy Perry said: "Heard the helicopter this morning and wondered what had happened. So sad."

Ann Mannion: "How very sad thoughts with this man’s family and friends."

Lynne Morgan said: "So sad thinking of this poor man’s family and friends."

Paula Nuttall said: "Sad, right by our house. Thinking of all his family."

Sharon Shazza Bond: "Thinking of his family at this sad time."

Paula Rance said: "So sad we’re is this rip to the man thinking of his family at this sad time."

Police are undertaking witness and CCTV inquiries and have urged anyone with details about what happened to contact officers by calling 101 or via Twitter (@MerPolCC).
