Death of James McMillan in Glasgow police station to be probed at public inquiry

The death of a young dad at a Glasgow police office will be investigated at a fatal accident inquiry.

James McMillan was just 35 years old when  he  passed away at the Stewart Street station in the city centre in May 2018.

Almost three years on the preliminary hearing will be held at Glasgow Sheriff Court to establish the circumstances that led to the tragedy.

The Kirkintilloch man was in police custody after being arrested.

The incident was reported to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) at the time, the outcome of which is expected to be discussed at the hearing.

A fatal accident inquiry is mandatory when someone dies in lawful custody. The case is scheduled to take place on January 8.
