Death of bus driver, 42, is unexplained, inquest hears

An inquest has opened into the unexplained death of a 42-year-old bus driver.

Peter Richard Bell was found unresponsive on his bed, by the caretaker of his flat in Barrfield Road, Salford, on November 5 2020.

Police coroner's officer Neil McCaffrey told Bolton Coroner's Court that it was treated as a 'special procedure investigation' by police, due to a note that was found at the flat.

Mr McCaffrey added that there were no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement.

Following a post mortem, the cause of death was recorded as 'unascertained', according to Alan Walsh, the area coroner for Manchester West.

Prof Walsh ordered for statements to be prepared by Mr Bell's GP, the mental health services and Greater Manchester Police.

The inquest was adjourned until April 14.
