Death of 21-year-old Liam Norris in Rhymney is not being treated as 'suspicious'

The death of a young man in Rhymney is not being treated as suspicious, Gwent Police has said.

Liam Norris was found dead in the early hours of Sunday, at around 12.50am, in a house in Moriah Street and police were initially treating  his death as "unexplained" .

However, Gwent Police has now said: "A post mortem has now taken place and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Our sympathies remain with his family."

The case was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) earlier this week, who is currently assessing the referral to determine whether any investigation by the IOPC is required.

The 21-year-old man was described as  an "amazing" father who was always smiling  by the mother of his two young children.

Kayleigh Lucas said: "Liam was happy, he was always smiling and laughing.

"He was spontaneous and outgoing - he loved making plans last minute.

"We didn't plan anything, we would just get up and do something, that is the way he was."

The mum said Liam loved spending time with the children, dancing, playing and listening to music, for example.

The 20-year-old added: "He was caring and protective.

"Liam was amazing with the kids - I could not imagine a better father for them.

"He was a family man, his family were the most important thing to him."

Tributes have been pouring in for him on social media as well.
