Death in Paradise viewers spot hilarious error as Ade Edmondson makes phone blunder

Death in Paradise returned to our screens on Thursday (January 9) night, bringing with it gorgeously sunny backdrops and more cheesy lines than you can shake a stick at.

But during the series nine opener, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a hilarious blunder as Ade Edmondson's character Charles Crabtree went to make a phone call.

In the scene, Crabtree frantically attended to his friend, who had been stabbed by a masked attacker dressed as the devil.

He then went to phone the police but fans spotted that this would have been a little difficult for him as he was using the phone the wrong way round:

Edmondson picked the phone up the wrong way in last night's episode (BBC One)

And of course, it didn't take long for viewers to have a little chuckle at the scene.

One person on Twitter wrote: "10 mins in to death in paradise & already the first cock up of the series. Man phones police whilst phone is upside down. You can’t make it up."

Another added: "He had the phone upside down. Rookie error."

A third questioned: "He was definitely holding that phone upside down, right?"

Edmondson is one busy man at the moment, with not only a guest appearance in the tropical crime series, but also a regular gig on EastEnders as Jean Slater's love interest, Daniel Cook.

He's also recently starred in Bancroft as Cliff Walker.

Death in Paradise continues on BBC One next Thursday at 9pm.
