Ralf Little has offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at life on set of sun-drenched detective show Death In Paradise – only for things to be far from glamorous or sunny.
The lanky 41-year-old TV hunk has played DI Neville Parker on the hit BBC drama since 2020 – taking the lead role from season nine onwards having previously had a one-off role as a different character back in 2013.
The programme itself is filmed on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe – which immediately conjures thoughts of blissful white sand beaches, scorching sunshine, and mild tropical breezes.
But this is only an illusion, it would seem, as Ralf revealed that the tropical island can be as grim and wet as the UK.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Ralf shared video of himself giving a behind-the-scenes tour of the set.
Dressed in a white vest top, Ralf shared the footage along with the caption: “Touring Behind The Scenes Of Death In Paradise. Filming in the jungle, the mighty jungle”
He shared clips of himself walking along dirt tracks in a forest while the sun shone.

He showed off impressive sea views with crystal clear waters and beaming sunshine – while clouds rolled in from the distance.
And indeed the rain clouds unleashed their contents while the cast and crew prepared to relax at lunchtime.
As the heavens opened, Ralf exclaimed: “We’ve just broken for lunch and we’re about to get our food and er…"

The star panned his camera to show heavy rain bucketing down and a grassy area quickly flooding with water – with the scenes much more expected for British summer as opposed to the sun-soaked Caribbean islands.
Complaining about the dire weather, Ralf added: "Ugh! It’s not what I can to the Caribbean for."
Co-star Tahj Miles seemed to be suffering even worse than Ralf, however, as he had clearly been caught in the rain and exclaimed in the background of the video: "I got water in my shoes."
Turning to address his co-star, Ralf said: "You got water in your shoes?" – and added: "Sad times. Sad times on Death in Paradise. Eurgh."
The star added in a caption of his video: “It’s (not) always sunny in Guadeloupe…”
Fans reacted to Ralf’s posts – with one claiming they were experiencing better weather back in the UK, writing in the comments of his rain-soaked update: “Lovely sunny day in Devon today and there's palm trees.”
While another fan across the channel – where Death In Paradise also airs – wrote: “For once, in the North of France, the sky is blue…”

Ralf also joked that the set of Death In Paradise could itself become a crime scene as he warned the route towards the shooting location was dangerous following a downpour.
Sharing his video of his journey through the jungle, he said: "I can show you the treacherous way to the set.
"It rained about half an hour ago and I came down here in my costume shoes, it was treacherous."
