INDORE: A 82-year-old male died on January 2 within hours of complaining about breathlessness at a private hospital in the district after he tested Covid-19 positive, stated a death audit report.
The male was admitted to hospital in the afternoon and died later. He was suffering from cardiac issues and other diseases. The male was among the four deaths caused because of Covid-19 before January 7 during the surge of this possible third wave in the district.
Similarly, another male died a day after developing cough symptoms and oxygen level remaining at 92-95% saturation in blood at a test in house. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he underwent RAT and tested positive. At the time of admission, his oxygen level was 86%, a report showed.
A committee of deans of government medical colleges in Indore division, faculty from MGMMC, SAIMS, IMA member, CMHO’s and civil surgeon audited the Covid-19 death on January 7. The meeting details were finalised on January 13.
The team also audited two deaths that happened after hospitalisation over ten days. A 75-year-old male and 69-year-old male died after 12 days and 11 days after being admitted in separate private hospitals.
The team also issued some directions to CMHO’s including collection of age-wise vaccination status of all Covid-19 positives, sending samples of all persons dying with pandemic virus disease, running all PSA plants at full capacity to check them.
The virology lab in-charge at MGMMC is directed to maintain a list of rejected samples because of it. In case of samples being stocked at the lab, it should be sent to agencies finalised by MP Health Services Corporation for testing.
