DeAndre Yedlin edging closer to full fitness but admits he's not totally happy with his performances

DeAndre Yedlin admits he is feeling the benefit of getting back to back 90 minutes under his belt against Chelsea.

Yedlin made his return to United's starting line-up in the 1-0 win over Man United earlier this month.

The USA international has been recovering from a summer groin operation but could not prevent a 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.

But despite showing some grogginess after spending the international fortnight in North America, Yedlin spoke of his personal fitness.

He said: "It was very good.

"The fitness is coming back, there are still some things on the technical side I need to clear up.

"But as the physical side goes I am feeling good."

And reflecting on the game, Yedlin added: "We were quite disappointed and felt we deserved at least a draw.

"They had possession but we defended well and threatened on the counter.

"We are disappointed with the result but we have to move on to the next one and try to get a result."

Newcastle put in an impressive first half performance but couldn't maintain their intensity after the break.

Yedlin told NUFC TV: "Some guys fatigued a bit and couldn't get on the press enough.

"I thought in the second half we could have done a bit better defensively.

"We have to assess and improve on it."
