Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has spoken of his delight after being reunited with former Brentford star Jota in the Midlands.
The winger has joined Villa from Birmingham City for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal, with the Spaniard linking up with his former boss.
And Smith has spoken positively about the 27-year-old, who spent three seasons with the Bees after signing for Brentford from Celta Vigo in 2014.
"I worked with Jota at Brentford. He's a superb, talented player and Birmingham signed him as their record transfer," Smith told Aston Villa's official club website .
"I'm really happy to have him back working with us. He's got great ability, great balance and a great eye for both goals and assists."
Jota was a key player for Smith at Griffin Park, scoring 23 goals in 75 appearances for the Bees, before making the move to the Midlands to join Birmingham for a club record fee of around £6m in 2017.
He has not had quite the same impact with the Blues, scoring eight times in 75 appearances, but he is now set for his first taste of Premier League football with Villa, who gained promotion via the Championship play-offs, winning 2-1 against Derby County at Wembley last month.
