Dean Holden reveals that he hasn't had an interview for Bristol City permanent job

Bristol City pushed the unbeaten run out to three games with a point gained against Stoke City on Wednesday evening. However that was likely that as far as the play-offs go.

With just two games to play from here, and with Cardiff City in the driving seat with Hull City and Middlesbrough to play before the end of the season, City have almost no chance of making up the points between both teams.

Their draw against the Potters, however, was deserved and an entertaining game saw chances at either end.

Filip Benkovic netted his second goal for the Robins when he curled in at the end of the first half before Michael O'Neill's team equalised in the 64th minute through Danny Batth's diving header.

"I've not had an interview. I'm not even thinking about it," clarified Holden following the game to Bristol Live.

"As I've said before, my full focus now is on how we recover the players for Saturday because Swansea City are playing tonight as well.

"It's a quick turnaround in games and we've given everything in the last three games as well.

"We've obviously started with the same selection again and that's really tough in terms of recovery time. We just need to get that right and make sure our preparation is right for Friday's training and grass-based session.

"And then make sure we pick a team that goes to Swansea on the front foot to get the three points," he said.

Holden's run now includes two wins and a draw, though that is unlikely to be enough to see City make a late push for the top six.

A final league position of eighth or higher, or even bettering last season's finish (8th) might still be possible for the acting manager.

"I've tried to take each day as it comes and I've tried to stay calm," said Holden, who remained coy on his interest in the permanent post.

"There's a lot of things going on that I'm probably not used to but I'm really just waking up in the morning with the aim of making the most of the day.

"And that's the same with the players and I have to be the example of that. It's not really up to me, so I'll just make the most of it," he added.

Nathan Baker was confirmed as coming off with a groin injury.
