Dean Henderson tells Manchester United what to do with David de Gea

Dean Henderson has praised Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea as the Sheffield United loanee prepares for an Old Trafford return.

The 23-year-old will remain with Sheffield United until the end of the season but is eyeing the No.1 spot at United next term.

De Gea has endured a seesaw campaign for United and his form came under the spotlight as a result of Roy Keane's rant following his error against Tottenham in United's first match back after the three-month hiatus.

However, Henderson has jumped to the defence of the Spaniard and told United De Gea deserves another opportunity to prove he can get back to his best.

Henderson told TV3: "The fans have to remember what he's [De Gea] done for the last nine years - he's been phenomenal.

"He's probably been the best player at United for that time period. He should get another opportunity.

"I'm a young lad. I'm working hard. I'm a fan of the club and I want to play for them. Hopefully I have a career at Man United like David de Gea has."

Meanwhile, Henderson also admitted that he may have to look elsewhere if his plan of becoming United's No.1 doesn't come to fruition.

"I think it's clear for everyone to know. I want to play for Manchester United and England," Henderson added.

"It feels like I always hit a brick wall. Maybe I'll get the opportunity [to play for United], maybe I won't, then I'll have to look down a different avenue."
