Dean Henderson teammate reveals stance on Manchester United future

Dean Henderson wants to be Manchester United's first-choice goalkeeper next season, according to his Sheffield United teammate Billy Sharp.

Henderson is spending his second campaign on loan at Sheffield United after helping them earn promotion to the Premier League last season, and he has taken the division by storm.

The 22-year-old's excellent performances between the sticks are a big part as to why the Blades are on the verge of qualifying for European football next season in their first year back in the top flight.

Henderson earned the man of the match award in Saturday's 1-0 win over relegation strugglers Norwich City, after making an incredible double save to secure the three points for the South Yorkshire side.

Blades skipper Sharp scored the winner, and he has revealed that Henderson has confessed his desire to play for United.

“He wants to come back. He wants to play for Man United, obviously – he’s not going to lie – but if he can’t do that he wants to play for Sheffield United," the striker said.

There have also been loud calls for Henderson to be named as Gareth Southgate's No.1 goalkeeper for England's upcoming European Championships campaign instead of the out of form Jordan Pickford this summer.

Sharp believes it's only a matter of time before it becomes a reality.

“I’m certain he’ll be England’s number one soon," he added. “He has to be with his performances – and he wants to be as well. We’re not in his ear about it, we don’t need to be.
