Dean Henderson sets himself Manchester United target

Dean Henderson says he is still aiming to prove he is good enough to play for Manchester United.

The English goalkeeper has shone while on loan at Sheffield United this season and has kept the joint-highest amount of clean sheets in the Premier League.

Henderson is set to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season but faces stiff competition from David de Gea and even Sergio Romero for the No.1 spot at the club.

The 22-year-old is hoping to go to the Euros with England this summer, but he insists his long-term aim is to prove his quality to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"Plenty of people walk around and say 'I play for Man United' and have never kicked a ball in the first team before. I am not one of those people," Henderson told Footbal Focus.

"I always feel like I've got a point to prove and one day that is my aim, to play for Man United.

"Until that happens I have got to earn the right, I have got to keep working hard day in and day out.

"When the day comes it will be even sweeter because it has been such a tough journey for myself. Only people around me know it has been hard at times. Hopefully, fingers crossed, in the near future it will happen."
