Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson appears to have confirmed he will not be returning to Sheffield United next season.
Henderson has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, winning promotion from the Championship in his first campaign, before helping the Blades to a respectable ninth-place finish in their first year back in the Premier League.
The England under-21 international has not hidden his ambitions of being United's number one, and has been named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first team squad for the coming season on the United website.
However, Henderson is looking for regular football next season, and is not content with being understudy to David De Gea as he looks to break into the England senior squad for the rescheduled 2020 European Championships next summer.
MEN Sport understands United are in discussions over a new deal for Henderson, amid interest from Chelsea in signing him. The Reds are open to selling Sergio Romero, but Henderson only wants to return to Old Trafford to be first choice.
There had been reports of Henderson heading out on loan again, potentially to Sheffield United for a third spell, but the 23-year-old took to social media to share a message over his future seemingly ruling out a return to his former club.
He wrote: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at @sheffieldunited for the last two years. Winning promotion to the Premier League with my brothers and having the season we had this season is something I will never forget.
"I would like to thank the manager, my teammates, the backroom staff and of course, the fans, who have been unbelievable towards to me [sic]. I will look back at the last two years as an important chapter in my career and more than anything, I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and develop with such a class group of lads.
"I can’t wait for the next chapter! Once again, thank you for everything! Once a blade, always a blade!"
