Dean Henderson and two Manchester United players who can rejuvenate their careers with a loan

Last season Jesse Lingard showed just how effective a loan deal can be, after his 6-month stint at West Ham rejuvenated his career and put him back into the fold at Manchester United, The club have several players who could do with a re-boot in their respective careers.

Here are three players who could copy Lingard and go on loan to great benefit for the players and Manchester United as a whole.

Dean Henderson

After being told he would be the number one choice going into this season, Dean Henderson suffered a long period on the sidelines with COVID-19 and took a while to get back into contention. Whilst he was returning, David De Gea had shown why he’s one of the best goalkeepers United have had with a string of stellar performances.

Although brilliant for De Gea, it meant Henderson has only started one game this season- the Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham.

MEN Sport understands Manchester United are expected to decide on whether to allow Dean Henderson to leave in the January transfer window by the end of the month.

Henderson had put himself back into the fold at Manchester United through an incredible loan period with Sheffield United which saw him have his best season in professional football. It was clear evidence a loan deal can benefit him and will almost certainly do the same this time around.

There may be a scenario in which Henderson may want to leave the club even after a proposed loan, but his stock will go higher which would benefit both the player and the club.

One interesting destination for the goalkeeper is Ajax. The Dutch side’s goalkeeping situation at this moment in time is a cause for concern, with their current number one Andre Onana reportedly close to joining Inter Milan. Their second choice Maarten Stekelenburg is out injured so Henderson will almost certainly get some well-needed minutes if he went to Ajax.

Many fans will hope if this does materialise, Henderson can bring Erik Ten Hag back with him!

Amad

Amad’s move to Manchester United has been another confusing one. A player who Solskjaer said to watch out for this season has been nowhere to be seen. A player with unlimited amounts of potential at such a young age needs minutes to develop and let’s be honest, he’s far too good for United to simply sell.

A loan deal looks incredibly likely for the 19-year-old has been linked a lot with a loan to Dutch club Feyenoord, but it would seem much more beneficial for a loan deal somewhere in England.

He may go on a loan abroad and be brilliant, but would then need time to adapt to the Premier League, whereas a loan move that keeps him within England will offer him both valuable minutes and time to adapt to the demands of the English league. Two birds, one stone.

Donny van de Beek

Where do you start with Donny van de Beek? A player who was one of the most entertaining and sought after players in Europe is now watching his career rot on the bench because he’s under a manager who simply has no idea how to utilise him.

Nobody would be surprised if van de Beek decided for a permanent move away, but for United’s sake let’s hope he chooses for a loan move to spark his career back into form.

A loan deal would be perfect as it would not only give van de Beek his confidence back but would also give time for Manchester United to perhaps make a change within the management level. This would then open the door for van de Beek at Old Trafford- a new manager, a new style of play- a new opportunity.

If van de Beek does go on a loan it will also show his desire to enter the fold properly at United, but it would be understandable if he felt his journey at Old Trafford was over, considering the way he’s been treated since his arrival.
