The International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) and the naval defense and maritime security exhibition (NAVDEX) have concluded in Abu Dhabi with deals worth AED20 billion (USD5.4 billion), with the fifth and last day alone witnessing deals of up to AED402.7 million (USD109.6 million).
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Emirates Armed Forces, expressed his pride at the world-class organization of the event, which is a key platform for showcasing the latest defense and military developments and how to benefit from them, to develop the country's industrial, military and civilian projects and programs that are key to its comprehensive development while affirming that enhancing the capabilities of the national defense industry will remain a strategic goal.
He said that IDEX 2019 began a new stage of partnerships and cooperation between companies and entities that manufacture and market defense and military products and system, while pointing out that the exhibition attracts major international firms and institutions, as well as many visitors, which reflects its success as a destination for relevant companies and its stature as the best environment for the sector's prosperity.
The exhibition has provided, over 25 years, an international platform for viewing the latest defense and military systems and the industry's latest innovations, making it a key event for promoting innovation, initiatives, ideas and pioneering, he said, while expressing pride at the exhibition's organization and its level of participation, which have contributed to its success.
Staff Major-General Pilot Faris Khalaf al-Mazrouei, chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of IDEX and NAVDEX 2019 said the two exhibitions “are among the most prominent and successful events organized in the UAE.”
“Over the years, IDEX has witnessed qualitative and quantitative increases in terms of space, number of visitors and exhibitors,” he added.
