The winners of this year's Deals and Dealmakers Awards were announced last night at a ceremony in central Glasgow.
The Weir Group was the biggest winner, taking both Sale of the Year and Deal of the Year for offloading its oil and gas division to Caterpillar for $405m.
Santander UK also did a double, winning in the Funder of the Year and Emerging Dealmaker categories, the latter of which was specifically given to Jamie Brownlie, an associate director in the firm's structured finance department.

A young man, but advancing at speed within this industry, our winner was said to be mature beyond his years and impressed everyone during the interview process.

The judges said that this firm demonstrated a range of deal execution, enabling Scottish growth in a period where that was often hard to come by.

The winner here was praised for deal-making innovation and a great sheet of completed work during the period.

It was a close call between the final two, but getting this sale completed, given where the market was at the time, was a true feat of negotiation and deal management.
