Dealer threw drugs onto roof after being chased by police

A drug dealer attacked an officer and threw crack cocaine onto a roof during a police chase.

Ellis Kilbride ran from police after they raided a property on Farrell Street, Warrington. The 24-year-old, of no fixed address, was then chased by officers as he attempted to get rid of drugs he was hiding in his trousers, on Friday, June 3.

Kilbride threw the drugs onto a nearby roof near Wharf Street. The dealer then lashed out at an officer, pushing him in the chest, as he was being arrested.

When searched, police found he was carrying large amount of class A drugs and £2,980 in cash. Officers arrested him on suspicion of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and he was taken to custody.

After being charged and appearing in court on Thursday, July 7, Kilbride pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine. He was sentenced on the same day to five years and seven months imprisonment.

Detective Sergeant Tom Hall, of Warrington local policing unit’s proactive team, said: "Kilbride arrest initially came from information provided by the local community in relation to allegations of youths buying drugs from two people at Brickfield Park.

"That information then led us to the property on Farrell Street and to Kilbride’s arrest. He made great attempts to evade police capture while discarding the drugs he was in possession of, and assaulting an officer, however it wasn’t going to stop us.

"In cases like this we do rely on information that is provided to us by members of the public and I would encourage people to continue to contact us if they believe drug related activity is occurring in their community. If you have information please visit Cheshire Constabulary’s website https://www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us. Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
