CID officers swooped on the address at Hillside Road, in the south end of the town, where they discovered a number of rooms were filled with mature cannabis plants.
Defence agent Terry Gallanagh said his client, who spoke via an Albanian interpreter, was admitting responsibility for producing the drugs at a pre-trial hearing before Sheriff Bruce Erroch QC.
He said: “Mr Viso is pleading guilty to the offence and the court would benefit from background reports in preparation for sentencing.
“As a report would be needed, your Lordship may wish to adjourn matters, and hear a narrative of the case at a later date.”
Procurator fiscal depute Ed Sheeran confirmed the prosecution was happy to adjourn the case.
He added the circumstances of the offence involved a “lengthy description involving numerous items which were recovered,” and this information would take time to read out in court.
Viso pleaded guilty to a charge of producing controlled drug Cannabis on May 16, this year, in contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act, at the property in Hillside Road.
No value or amount of the Class-B haul was given at the hearing.
Sheriff Erroch QC told the accused he was prepared to adjourn the case for the preparation of a Criminal Justice Social Work report.
He added that Viso would be remanded in jail while the report is compiled.
He said: “I will adjourn sentencing in this matter further for the preparation of a report.
“I shall hear a narration of the facts and mitigation at that time.
“I will also ask that Restriction of Liberty assessment is prepared.”
Viso will be brought back to court on September 16 when he will discover his fate.
