One of British TV's greatest secrets has finally been revealed - just who is the banker on Deal or No Deal?
The favourite TV show sees the Banker try and beat contestants as they try to secure the highest amount of money possible, in the box game of luck and chance.
In the original show, which first aired in 2005, the Banker was only present in phone calls to host Noel Edmonds.
Viewers long speculated who could be the mystery man on the end of the phone, but for 20 years, the answer has evaded the public - until now.
Unknown to the Brit population, the banker has always been a famous face from the TV world.
And now it has been revealed that the man on the end of the phone is none other than Coronation Street star Glenn Hugill.
Former Pointless host Richard Osman revealed that the man on the other end of the phone was none other than the former soap star, who played the role as police detective Alan McKenna on the northern series.
Hugill, the ex-Coronation Street actor also worked as a TV producer on ITV, and it was during this stint of work that he was the voice behind the mysterious Banker on Deal or No Deal during its original Channel 4 run from 2005 to 2016.
The original show ran from 2005 to 2016, before being rebooted in 2023, with Stephen Mulhern as the new host - who has insisted that he has no idea who the banker is now.
Hugill ran his own production company behind the scenes, Possessed, which he sold to ITV two years ago to join the team at Wheelhouse, Jimmy Kimmel's media behemoth.
And fans were quick to joke about the “new news” - despite many guessing 15 years ago it was him.
One wrote on Instagram: “Hang on... it wasn’t Mr Blobby?!” while another, going by the name of Alan Brown added: “Well at last..I can finally get a good night's sleep.”
Glenn was speculated as the banker more than a decade ago.
Then, in 2015, former Pointless host Richard Osmon seemingly accidentally revealed that Glenn was the banker.
Speaking about his show Two Tribes, Richard said at the time: "[It] was an idea that Glenn Hugill – the Banker on Deal or No Deal – and I had been thinking about for a long time."
He also took to social media to confirm, when he invited questions from fans, saying they could ask him anything as he was under the influence of drugs following back surgery.

Fans responded: “I still prefer to think of it as Mr Blobby, no matter what I am told.”
