Deal agreed: Nottingham Forest ace Matty Cash set for £14m move to Aston Villa

Right-back Matty Cash is set to leave Nottingham Forest for Premier League Aston Villa in a £14m move.

The Reds were always going to face a battle to hang on to their star man this summer, with a number of teams chasing his signature.

And it is Villa who have won the race for Cash, after initially seeing a number of bids turned down, the first one starting at £10m.

Sheffield United, too, had an offer rejected, while Fulham, West Ham United and AC Milan were also among those interested in the youngster.

Forest could eventually benefit to the tune of £16m from Villa’s deal for Cash, due to potential add-ons.

And while the club were not prepared to let the 23-year-old leave on the cheap, it is understood the defender is keen to test himself in the top-flight.

Cash is now due to have a medical at Villa to become their first signing of the summer.

The Nigel Doughty Academy product will leave the City Ground on the back of a fine season which saw him crowned the club’s Player of the Year.

He played a key role for the Reds last term, moving from a more advanced role to full-back under the guidance of Sabri Lamouchi.
