Deadpool 3 has undergone a significant transformation, now being titled Deadpool & Wolverine. Director Shawn Levy recently shed light on the decision to incorporate Hugh Jackman's iconic character into the title of the upcoming movie, which will also mark the debut of both mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following Disney's acquisition of Fox, fans have eagerly awaited the integration of the X-Men into the MCU. While hints of mutants have surfaced in the franchise, the official crossover of the old and new franchises will kick off with Deadpool & Wolverine.

Levy, in an interview with ScreenRant at CinemaCon, explained that the inclusion of Wolverine necessitated a significant shift in the titling of the R-rated film. He emphasized the unique nature of the Deadpool and Wolverine story, describing it as a character-driven adventure distinct from its predecessors.

Although Wade Wilson remains the central figure, Wolverine's presence, portrayed by Jackman, has been pivotal to the success of the X-Men on the big screen. The film is expected to feature a host of cameos from former Fox stars, with speculations of appearances by various X-Men actors from the original trilogy, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Aaron Stanford as Pyro.

Moreover, rumors abound regarding potential surprises in the movie, with speculation even extending to the possibility of a cameo by Taylor Swift. Levy, in a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight, neither confirmed nor denied these rumors, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine is slated for release on July 26, 2024, promising an exciting blend of beloved characters, unexpected appearances, and a fresh take on the mutant universe.
