Deadpool 3’s Emma Corrin describes Marvel Cinematic Universe an ‘absolute mindf**k’

Emma Corrin has revealed they needed a Marvel Cinematic Universe “debrief” after signing up for Deadpool 3.

The British star, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, is set to play the villain opposite Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming movie.

While playing a villain on-screen is a first for Corrin, the actor admitted it was something they’re “really excited to do”, although learning the inner workings of the MCU was an “absolute mindf**k”.

Despite the Golden Globe winner’s initial confusion, they have learned all about the superhero cinematic universe and think it is “amazing”.

Emma will star in the third instalment of Deadpool (20th Century Fox)

Speaking to Empire magazine in an interview conducted prior to the US actors’ strike, The Crown star said: “Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person. I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’

“It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mindf**k.

“All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead… it’s amazing.”

Corrin, who was speaking to the outlet while promoting their new series, A Murder At the End of the World, said they feel “really lucky” to be part of the Marvel family because they now understand “why it means as much as it does to so many people”.

The My Policeman star added: “It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner workings.”

Corrin also revealed that they were kept in the dark about the film’s plot even after they were approached by the movie’s director Shawn Levy, joking: “I’d heard about the project but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch.”

Production on the comic book flick is currently paused amid the US actors’ union SAG-AFTRA and Writers’ Guild of America (WGA) strike.
