
Tragedy struck in the northwest Czech city of Most when a propane-butane cylinder exploded at a restaurant, claiming the lives of six individuals. The incident, which occurred late on Saturday evening, also left eight people injured and prompted the evacuation of 30 individuals from the restaurant and nearby buildings.
According to reports from the Czech fire rescue service, the explosion led to a devastating fire that engulfed the building. Witnesses indicated that the tragedy may have been triggered by a heater overturning, sparking the initial flames.
Interior Minister Vit Rakusan suggested that the likely cause of the explosion was a propane-butane heater toppling over in the restaurant's front garden. The fire brigade, in their rescue efforts, managed to save one seriously injured guest who was trapped in a bathroom.
At the time of the blast, approximately 20 guests were present inside the restaurant, as per Czech Radio sources. The swift response of emergency services helped prevent further casualties and ensured the safety of those evacuated from the vicinity.
