CHANDIGARH: Come Thursday, the Sero Survey will complete a month in Haryana but, even a fortnight past the deadline, the health department is yet to release the report.
It hopes to get the report ready by October 15 or a few days later, as the results of the samples that the teams collected were sent to Rohtak’s Post Graduate Insitute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) for analysis.
A senior official in the health department said: "After the analysis, it will take anothr few days to compile and print the report. It was a comprehensive survey and testing, hence the delay. If it was a regular survey and sample size not double, we could have finished the report last month itself."
Haryana health minister Anil Vij had launched this survey for the state remotely on September 7, coming online with additional chief secretary for health Rajeev Arora, director general health services Dr Veena Singh, and director Dr Usha Gupta. The team had asked for 15 days to come out with the report.
All the samples reached a laboratory in the Panchkula civil hospital and looking at their volume and the speed of testing, the health department had hired another machine but still failed to meet the deadline. This time they collected 36,520 samples compared with 18,500 in the last survey. This time, children above 6 and the villagers were also covered.
There were 3,600 children in the age group of 6 to 9, 11,000 between 10 and 17, and 22,000 above 18. This survey will cover 60% of the rural zone 40% of the urban area. The health minister said the report was delayed by two weeks, since the government was busy preparing for the speculated third wave of Covid-19 Spike protein antibody test is part of the new survey.
The study will determine the number of antibodies formed people and if the reason was vaccination or infection. The antibody percentage developed after the first and second doses of vaccines will be calculated for the first time.
