Deadline for linking Aadhaar with PAN card extended till March 31, 2022

NEW DELHI: The government on Friday extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar with permanent account number (PAN) till March 31, 2022.

In a tweet, the income-tax (I-T) department informed that the last date has been further extended by 6 months on account of the challenges faced by people due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government has already extended the deadline several times in the past as well.

Earlier this year, the I-T department had extended the last date for linking PAN-Aadhaar from March 31 to September 30 in view of the challenges faced by people due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Aadhaar is 12-digit identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to a resident of India. While, PAN is a 10-digit alphanumeric number allotted by the I-T department to a person, firm or entity.
