Deadline extended on Mangoola proposal submissions

SUBMISSIONS have reopened on Glencore's bid to expand the life of its Mangoola coal mine.

The Independent Planning Commission panel has requested extra material including the transcript of its meeting with the EPA, NSW Health and Department of Primary Industries and Energy, its presentation material from the same meeting and the applicant's March 30 response to the commission.

Comment on the new material only is open until April 12, and the IPC says the deadline will be strictly enforced.

"The panel will only consider comments received directly from the person submitting the comment.," it said in a statement.

"Campaign emails, petitions or form letters will not be considered nor uploaded to the Commission's website."

Glencore hopes to extract another 52 million tonnes by expanding its Mangoola mine near Muswellbrook.
