Tower defense games are all about strategy. You need to adjust your team composition and choose the best units if you want to clear all available stages in Dead Defense. If you want to learn how to best handle this Dead Rails-inspired TD, then continue reading our Dead Defense beginner's guide.
How to Clear Waves

As mentioned above, you have to put thought into a lot of things if your goal is to clear waves in Dead Defense. The main thing you should do to clear waves is to take care of where you place your towers. Inner corners of the tracks are always the best placement, because that way you can keep attacking the enemies longer, no matter how large your tower's circle of attack is.
AoE towers work best on these corners, as they will be taking out many enemies at once instead of just one. You can place single-target units after your AoE towers so that they can take out stragglers or bosses that may pass through.
How to Earn Money Effectively

Getting money allows you to place new towers and upgrade existing ones to make them stronger. There are a few ways to earn more money rather than just passively waiting for your towers to kill and hit zombies. If you need money for a quick upgrade or new tower placement, then you should skip a wave.
At beginner levels, you might even find it easy to skip many waves in a row, but I don't suggest doing this all the time. You shouldn't skip waves if you already have a lot of enemies on the field and are having issues clearing them. This will cause your base to be overrun, and it will be game over.
The second easiest way to get more money to clear waves is to place down a farming unit. In this case that would be either the High Roller or Cowboy unit. High Roller is costs lower quality, but the Cowboy is more efficient in farming money for you.
Best Towers
Since Dead Defense is a tower defense game, knowing about the best towers will help you clear all the zombie waves and bosses. Keep in mind that you'll start with weaker towers, but don't let that discourage you from grinding a bit and summoning a strong tower. Some of the best units in Dead Defense are:
Tower | Why it's Good |
---|---|
![]() Cowboy |
This tower is extremely gold-efficient (along with its upgrades), and it deals a good amount of damage ata good range. |
![]() Vampire |
The Vampire is ideal against single targets like bosses and slower enemies. He will destroy them thanks to high DPS and range. |
![]() Arsonist |
The Arsonist deals tons of AoE damage and can clear waves of zombies quickly. This will allow you to skip waves and get bonus money each round. |
![]() Gladiator |
One of the best DPS in the game and is ideal against bosses and other slow enemies. |
![]() Boss |
The Boss can be placed anywhere on the field without worrying that he won't attack enemies. Along with having a good range, he also fires rapidly, allowing for some of the highest DPS in the game. |
How to Get New Towers

To get new towers, you must go to the Summon store in the lobby and use Bonds to summon. There's a higher chance you will pull a low rarity unit (standard for gacha banners). If you get duplicate towers, sell or trade them, as you can only place one of each unit on a team. You can also get a free tower from the miner next to the AFK zone by doing the following steps:
How to Get Free Rewards

There are different ways you can get free rewards and Bonds, and not just by playing the game. Completing Quests is always a great idea for any in game currency. Battle Passes will also give you more Bonds and other items, and if you are willing, you can even purchase the Premium Battle Pass for more rewards.
If you don't have the time to play but want to pull for more Units, then I suggest joining the AFK zone where you can earn Bonds. Again, if you have the Premium Battle Pass, you will earn more money compared to F2P players.
As mentioned above, you can also interact with the Miner next to the AFK zone, follow all of the steps and get a free unit. These are always useful especially if you're just starting the game and are building your team.
