De’Vondre Campbell was the most efficient tackler for the Falcons last year

The Atlanta Falcons are blessed to have elite talents at several different positions. They’re also relatively deep, with an unusually high number of quality under-the-radar contributors. One of them is linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, who rarely gets any attention for his fine work on the field.

According to Pro Football Focus, Campbell was Atlanta’s most efficient tackler during the 2018 season. They say he only missed one tackle in every 29.7 attempts. Here are how the top five Falcons performed in this category.

Despite the sure tackling, Campbell only earned an “average” 57.5 grade from PFF for the season. The foot injury to starting middle linebacker Deion Jones (notably absent from the above list) had him playing out of position for a part of the year, though.

Campbell is also an above-average coverage linebacker and can finish in the backfield.

Part of the famously strong 2016 draft class for the Falcons, Campbell is now entering the final year of his rookie deal. Atlanta should try to keep him around for a long-term extension if general manager Thomas Dimitroff can make the numbers work and keep Campbell, Jones and Keanu Neal.
