Robert De Niro is to launch a new film festival in New York. And the Oscar winning actor is confident that his Tribeca Film Festival will help businesses affected by the events of September 11.
A report on Ananova states that the first Tribeca festival will take place between May 1 and May 5 next year. The aim is to assist businesses based near the site of the World Trade Center.
"There are businesses down here that need help, small businesses, everything," said De Niro, a New York native. "And we don't know until we do this where it'll go. It'll take on a life of its own, but it'll take on a good, positive life and it'll definitely help in so many ways."
De Niro and his business partner, Jane Rosenthal, said they had been planning the festival - which is to include 40 feature-length films plus documentaries and shorts - before September 11, but that recent events had given the project renewed impetus.
