Melbourne Victory have added former Western Sydney coach Jean-Paul de Marigny to the struggling A-League club's backroom staff.
De Marigny, who was sacked by the Wanderers in October just three months after being appointed as the club's permanent head coach, will return to Victory as first team coach.
It will be the ex-Socceroo's second stint at Victory after being an assistant to Kevin Muscat during the club's championship-winning campaigns of 2014-15 and 2017-18.
Under-fire head coach Grant Brebner has welcomed de Marigny's appointment and believes it will give him extra experience to call upon as he attempts to salvage Victory's ailing A-League campaign.
"As a team we are not where we want to be," Brebner said.
"We still have time to turn our season around, but I needed to look at ways to drive improvement across our football program if we are to climb back up the table.
"Bringing Jean-Paul back to the club will provide support for myself and Steve (Kean, assistant), but he will also be a great asset for our playing group given the experience and success he has achieved during his coaching career.
"He also knows the club, the expectations and has in depth knowledge of the A-League."
Brebner's hold on Victory's top job is under question after last weekend's humiliating 6-0 thumping by crosstown rivals Melbourne City.
That defeat was Victory's seventh in 10 games this season and leaves them rooted to the bottom of the ladder, four points adrift of 11th-placed Newcastle.
In 15 matches at the helm of Victory including his stint as interim boss last season, Brebner has won just three game and lost 11.
De Marigny says he is eager to help Brebner turn around the ailing club's fortunes.
"With a relatively new squad it takes time for the team to come together but I believe Grant, Steve and I can create the right environment to help us play the Victory way."
Victory face in-form rivals Adelaide at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
