DE J.J. Watt praises former Texans equipment manager Mike Parson

The Houston Texans staff shuffle has been ongoing even before the club hired new general manager Nick Caserio.

The Texans let go equipment manager Mike Parson last week, and defensive end J.J. Watt took to Twitter to express his appreciation for the job Parson and his staff did while in Houston.

“Mike Parson and the entire equipment staff are incredible people who went above and beyond to help every player in the locker room every single day,” Watt wrote. “A great man and a great staff who shouldn’t be out of work for long. Anybody would be lucky to have them.”

That the Texans are letting go a training staff that a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and face of the franchise glowingly endorses opens up a series of questions as to why they are being dismissed. It isn’t the first time since the firing of Bill O’Brien as coach and general manager on Oct. 5, 2020, that professionals at the top of their game have been sent packing.
