De Gea and Maguire dropped - Manchester United line up fans want to see vs Newcastle

Manchester United fans have called for both Harry Maguire and David de Gea to be dropped for tonight's Premier League clash against Newcastle.

United travel to St. James Park on the back of their humiliating home defeat to Tottenham prior to the international break and supporters are desperate to see a response against the Magpies.

Maguire contributed to four of Spurs' first-half goals and was sent off for England during their 1-0 defeat to Denmark leading to calls for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to drop the club captain. The United boss backed Maguire to bounce back and the defender was included in United's travelling squad for tonight's match.

MEN Sport writers had their say on who should start against Steve Bruce's side and asked United supporters to do the same.

Match preview: Newcastle v Manchester United

Supporters believe dropping Maguire to the bench could be the best move given his recent form, opting for Eric Bailly to partner Victor Lindelof at the heart of defence.

Solskjaer has kept faith with De Gea in the league despite Dean Henderson's return and the Spaniard was arguably at fault during Spain's shock defeat to Ukraine last week. United fans believe the time is right for Henderson to be given the chance to impress in the league.

At left-back, supporters are eager to see deadline day signing Alex Telles replace Luke Shaw in the starting XI. The defender featured for Brazil during the break and flew to Newcastle with the squad on Friday. Solskjaer said during his pre-match press conference that he was hopeful the 27-year-old could make his Reds debut.

In midfield, fans want to see Donny van de Beek make his first Premier League start alongside Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba. Our graphic has Fernandes operating at the base of the midfield which can only be attributed to a technical glitch!

With Anthony Martial suspended and Edinson Cavani unavailable, United supporters believe Daniel James is the best option to join the forward three with Marcus Rashford moving to the centre and Mason Greenwood playing from the right.

Manchester United fans' XI vs Newcastle: Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Lindelof, Telles; Van de Beek, Pogba, Fernandes; Greenwood, Rashford, James.
