DDMA cancels Kanwar Yatra in Delhi amid Covid-19 scare

NEW DELHI: In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has cancelled the annual Kanwar Yatra in the city.

In a notification issued on Sunday, the DDMA said that the step was taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.

All the districts magistrates of the capital and their counterpart district commissioners have been asked to ensure strict compliance of the order.

Uttar Pradesh govt cancels Kanwar Yatra in view of Covid-19

Keeping in view the pandemic situation and the possible third wave, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have already cancelled the pilgrimage.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the UP government to consider cancelling the yatra.
