MUMBAI: In some good news for cricket fans, TOI has learnt that DD Sports will show the live telecast of the second and third matches of the ongoing Women's ODI series between India and Sri Lanka at Pallekele.
"The telecast rights of the India versus Sri Lanka T20 and ODI series were bought by a company called 27th Sports. The T20Is and the first ODI match was telecast live on FanCode. Apart from Fancode, the T20I series between India and Sri Lanka preceding the ODIs were also streaming on27thsports.com.
27th Sports requested Prasar Bharti to show the matches live on Doordarshan, so that a majority of cricket fans are able to see them. The first match too was supposed to be telecast on Doordarshan, but the permission regarding it from the Information & Broadcasting Ministry took some time," a source revealed.
"We at 27th Sports are extremely glad that the India vs Sri Lanka women's ODIs will be coming Live on DD, as it will take the game to every nook and corner of the country. Women's cricket is growing, and it needs maximum exposure to reach the next level, and we as a company are looking to explore every opportunity to highlight women's cricket in every way possible," said Sangeet Shirodkar, CEO and Co-Founder of 27th Sports, told TOI.
India beat Sri Lanka by four wickets in the first Women's ODI at Pallekele on Friday.
