DCU is planning to build a huge new housing complex that will accommodate an additional 1,240 students at its Glasnevin campus.
The northside university will demolish an existing 252-bed facility to make way for 213 new cluster units.
These cluster units will include five or six individual en-suite rooms with shared living and kitchen spaces.
The new units will also include social spaces, offices and a retail area, reports the Irish Independent.
The current accommodation at the college, known as Larkfield, consists of apartments with two bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom.
DCU was the fastest growing university in the country over the period 2014-2017, with a 50% increase in student numbers.
The college now has a student population of 17,000.
The new housing development is expected to be completed for the 2023-24 academic year.
