DC Todd Wash expects Calais Campbell, Yannick Ngakoue to play vs. Texans

With two of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ best pass rushers in Calais Campbell (ankle) and Yannick Ngakoue (hamstring) surfacing on the injury report Wednesday and not practicing, many fans were concerned about the Jags’ chances to beat the Houston Texans. However, that’s not a concern for defensive coordinator Todd Wash.

During his session with the media Thursday, Wash told the media that he’s expecting both players to take the field Wednesday, which would be huge for the Jags as the Texans allowed six sacks to quarterback Deshaun Watson Week 1.

Although we ultimately have to wait to see the status of both players on the final injury report, Wash’s statements certainly should make Jags fans feel a little more confident heading into Sunday. Add in the fact that Josh Allen has looked legit and the potential return of Marcell Dareus (elbow) from the injury report, and it would seem the Jags have a decent chance to win Sunday’s game.

It’s unclear when both Campbell and Ngakoue sustained their respective injuries during Sunday’s game because it wasn’t reported that either player left the game early. However, Ngakoue has had a wrap on his leg all this week, but participated in some drills Thursday per ESPN’s Michael DiRocco which is a positive sign.
