'Dazzler the Elf' returns to Garda HQ for another Christmas of mischievous fun

An Garda Siochana’s mischievous runaway elf is back for another year of festive fun.

Dazzler the Elf escaped from the Garda Headquarters in Dublin last year and was spotted all around the country.

A nationwide elf-hunt was launched, with gardai drafting in assistance from Jingle, their trusted elf on the shelf.

This year, Dazzler is back, ready to wreak havoc on gardai across the country.

The elf was spotted on the gates of Dublin Castle this morning, taking in the sites of the historic building.

On the official Garda account, they said: “A place fit for a King or Dazzler? He had so many adventures last year he’s back for more but where is he? #FindDazzler #CáBhfuilDazzler.”

Yesterday, they said that Jingle had called for the help of the Garda Dog Unit, posting a picture of the elf dressed in red sitting on top of a German Shepherd.

Dazzler visited a number of sites around the country last year, including Father Ted’s house in Clare and the Phil Lynott statue off Grafton Street in Dublin.

When approached for information, a Garda spokesperson said: “We have no official release on Dazzler because we don’t know where he is!!!

“You’ll just have to keep your eye on our social media channels, every morning up to Christmas, to keep up with Dazzler’s ongoing adventures.”

Members of the public are asked to use the #FindDazzler hashtag online to locate Dazzler.

Many knew where he was straight away this morning, with some delighted to see him once again this year.

“Brilliant stuff An Garda Siochana. My kids are loving keeping up with Dazzler and Jingle,” one wrote under the Garda’s post on Facebook.

“Dazzler has no hope if the dogs are in charge,” another said.

One commenter said: “Great to see them back. Make them wear masks, don't want them getting Covid. Everyone stay safe.”
