Dayot Upamecano makes Arsenal transfer decision

Ask any Arsenal fan to name some players they would like to sign in the summer transfer window and Dayot Upamecano's name would be among most lists.

The big central defender has been a long-term target of Arsenal's with the Gunners attempting to sign him last summer.

While they could not get a deal done, transfer links have continued to grow since, with the RB Leipzig man tipped to move on in the summer transfer window, whenever that may be.

football.london understands that a centre-back is high on Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta's wish list this summer, meaning a swoop for Upamecano may be an option that Arsenal wish to consider, especially when the Spaniard is so keen to bolster his defensive options.

At 21 years of age, the defender is fast becoming one of the most talked-about young, up-and-coming defenders in world football, and has attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich as well as Premier League sides Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.

According to l'Equipe, Upamecano is likely to move on this summer, but is not prepared to move to a club where he will not be first choice.

And according to Soccerlink, the youngster has already made up his mind, with Bayern Munich the preferred destination.

Soccerlink says Upamecano wants to stay in Germany in the Bundesliga, rather than making the move to the Premier League or La Liga, and Bayern are in pole position to sign him.
