Dayo Upamecano has confirmed he held transfer talks with clubs before agreeing to sign a new contract with RB Leipzig.
The centre-back signed a new three-year contract in Germany which is thought to have included a £53million release clause that will drop to £40m next summer.
That was after interest from Arsenal and Manchester United in the 21-year-old.
Whilst the Gunners shifted their focus to sign Gabriel Magalhaes, United are reported to have made Upamecano their number one transfer target.
Yet Upamecano has insisted his immediate future lies at Leipzig.
“I extended my contract with Leipzig because I feel good with my team-mates,” Upamecano said.
“My coach is giving me confidence. He’s learning as well, but he gives me confidence and it improves my level.
“I’ve been in Leipzig for more than three years, I feel good. I’ve been in demand, I talked to some clubs, it’s true, but I’m not in a hurry.
“We’ll see what happens in the future.”
The French centre-back enjoyed an excellent season in 2019/20, helping his side to the Champions League semi-finals.
Upamecano put in some dominant displays in that run and feels he and his teammates are now benefitting from the increased exposure their performances in the Champions League have given them.
"Obviously when you play a Champions League semi-final, your status changes, especially because it was the first semis for Leipzig. We wrote history," he added.
"When I was in Portugal, I wasn't paying attention to what happened outside of it until the end.
"Because I didn't play in Ligue 1, I was just in academies in France, I became known in Germany."
