Imagine you are about to go to meet a friend. James Corden knocks on your door asking whether he can shoot a music video, with none other than Harry Styles. What do you do?

This was the reality for some New Yorkers this week, as Styles and Corden wandered the streets for a comedy segment of Corden’s Late Late Show. The duo borrowed a fan’s apartment and then filmed the music video for Style’s new song Daylight, which was dropped as part of his new album release last week.

“I thought this would be easier Harry, I’ve got to be honest — I thought your face would open a lot of doors,” says Corden in the 17 minute-clip.

Eventually, Styles and Corden find some happy hosts: Isabel, Caroline, Hadley and Sydney. The following three hours at their house are predictably chaotic. The $300-budget music video involves a dance party in the living room, Corden shining a twirling blue light on a fully-clothed Styles in the bath, dressing Styles up in fancy dress, and standing on the roof with Corden in a green costume.

But, incredibly, after all the hassle and hilarity, the results are pretty good. Fans came out online to share how thrilled they were with Corden’s efforts.

“Okay but the daylight music video is PURE GOLD,” tweeted one.

“So Harry Styles made a music video for ‘Daylight’ with James Corden… I’m dead,” said another.

“Delight, this is an absolute delight, oooh-ooh,” said another.

Styles released his third studio album, titled Harry’s House, a week ago, and unsurprisingly it’s already been a massive hit, breaking the record for the most sales for a vinyl album in the U.S and had shifted 61,000 chart sales after just one weekend.

As well as fifth-track Daylight, the record also includes the major hit As It Was, which shot straight to number following its April release. Its music video, which also premiered on April 1, has already garnered 143 million views and is still going strong. It’s the current number six global top music video.

The 13-track funk, folk and pop record was his first album release since 2019’s Fine Line. Styles has continued to work with longtime collaborators Kid Harpoon, Tyler Johnson, and Mitch Rowland on the album, as well as joining up with John Mayer, Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) and Tobias Jesso Jr. (whose credits include Adele, FKA Twigs, Diplo and SIA).
