Daycare worker charged with neglect after four toddlers broke legs on same day

A daycare worker has been charged with child neglect after four toddlers suffered broken legs on the same day.

Christina Marie Curtis, 25, was arrested last month for the alleged incidents at Kids Discovery Learning Center in Valparaiso, Florida.

The toddlers, all boys between the ages of 13 and 21 months, were fine in the morning but later could not stand or walk, the Panama City News Herald reports.

On May 21 doctors determined each of them had suffered leg fractures.

One mother Terika Graham told the News Herald that she had instructed Curtis to keep her child inside on the day of the alleged incident because he had a rash.

But upon picking him up, she claimed to find 'dirt all in his hair' and wasn't given an explanation for three days.

She believes Curtis may have let him crawl around outside.

Graham said her son suffered a hairline fracture but is healing-well.

His injuries were not as serious as the other three children.

She added: "His balance is still a little funny, but I believe that will get better soon."

Surveillance footage allegedly shows Curtis walking one of the victims, an 18-month-old while holding his hands above his head.

She is claimed to have then 'rapidly jerked him into the air', according to an arrest report.

"When (he) was picked up, his feet and legs were in the air and was dropped feet first into a wagon. Other children were placed in the wagon and it was pulled outside," the News Herald reported the arrest report saying.

Then after that same child awoke from a nap inside the wagon, he was unable to put weight on his legs.

A teacher is claimed to have instructed Curtis to contact the center's front desk several times about the injury, according to the site.

Curtis, who has been released on $4,000 bail, is not allowed contact with any child and she cannot work for any child facilities or schools.

She awaits a hearing after being charged with four counts of child neglect that resulted in greater bodily harm.
