Day of the Dead Silent Disco to take over spooky location in Newcastle for Halloween

Short on plans for Halloween and fancying doing something a bit different? Well if you thought Silent Discos were just for summer think again as one is heading to Newcastle with a rather sinister edge.

A spook-filled playlist, two undead DJ’s and hundreds of sets of wireless headphones will transform The Old Coal Yard  in Ouseburn into a Day of the Dead Silent Disco as Silent Disco Newcastle - who staged the huge sold-out Silent Disco on the Beach in Tynemouth last month- present their blood-curdling delights to a unique venue and event.

On Friday, November 1, the night after Halloween, The Old Coal Yard will be filled with the ghosts of silent disco dancers. It’s gonna be an absolute scream and from previous events held in the area, we know there are loads of you out there who love a silent disco!

Silent Disco Newcastle’s Day of the Dead extravaganza that will see a deadly battle rage between two ghostly DJs (Beccy Owen and Will Lang) as they to try to win the battle of the channel-switchers with tunes to cater for all souls, (living and dead). So even if your fiends are too cool for school, everyone can find something to love.

The event runs from 8pm - midnight and is for adults, but for budding disco dancers there is a family-friendly session, 4-6pm where alongside dancing there will be pumpkin-carving, face-painting and other activities.

Children of the Night at Silent Disco

For those new to the phenomenon, a silent disco is a party at which people can choose between various songs in any given moment.

There are numerous channels to choose from on the special headphones provided, meaning, for example, that whilst a few people could be screaming out the Monster Mash everyone else around them is wafting along to Wuthering Heights.

Acclaimed musicians and massive music fans, Beccy Owen (ex-Joy Atlas) and Will Lang (Spark!) will be providing the soundtrack via a live DJ-battle. Headphones will be provided as part of the entry cost.

Beccy Owen said: “I’m excited to have teamed up with my good mate Will and The Old Coal Yard to once again share out love of a good tune and bring people the region’s most fun-filled Silent Disco.

"It’s an absolute blast. Come. You will have the best time. It’s a gorgeous, daft, beautiful, riot! Dressing up is encouraged.”

A fully licensed bar will be available.

Tickets are available now and can booked online through Tickets Ignite:  www.ticketsignite.com

They are priced Tickets: £12 and £10 concessions for the evening event and £7 and £5 concessions for the family event.
