Day-by-day Met Office weather forecast for August Bank Holiday

This year's August Bank Holiday is set to be a scorcher with highs of 27C expected in Bristol.

According to the Met Office, the weekend will be warm and dry with lots of sunshine.

From Friday, south easterly winds will draw warm air from Europe towards the UK, bringing rising temperatures along with dry and settled weather.

Forecasters for the weather agency say: "It will be mainly warm and dry with prolonged sunshine.

"However, there will be some cloud around at times, which could even bring the odd shower for some."

Temperatures of 33C are also predicted in southeastern parts of the UK.

Here's the day-by-day Bristol forecast for this bank holiday weekend according to the Met Office:

Friday - sunny intervals

The Met Office is forecasting sunny intervals for Friday, with cloud expected throughout the morning.

However, there will be sunny conditions in the South West from around 1pm onwards.

Maximum temperature will be 22C.

Saturday - sunny

It will be a sunny day from 7am onwards according to the Met Office, with only a bit of a cloud forecast for around 4pm in the afternoon.

Even better, the weather agency says there will be highs of 27C on Saturday for the South West.

Sunday - cloudy changing to sunny intervals

While the Met Office says Sunday will begin cloudy, this will soon clear to make way for some sun by early afternoon.

The temperature will drop to a cooler 24C by Sunday.

Monday - cloudy changing to sunny

Similarly to Sunday, the bank holiday Monday will begin cloudy before sunny conditions return at around 4pm in the afternoon.

Temperatures will peak at around 21C.
