MARGAO: Opposition parties in the state on Tuesday railed against the state government calling for the CM’s head, a day after Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik levelled charges of corruption against the Pramod Sawant government.
Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh demanded immediate dismissal of the CM and his council of ministers who he said were directly involved in “massive corruption and that too in the middle of the pandemic”.
AAP and Congress organised a protest rally in Panaji against the government demanding the CM’s resignation, during which police arrested several volunteers. A delegation of TMC and GFP went to the Raj Bhavan demanding the CM’s ouster. They called for a probe into Malik’s allegations.
MGP’s Marcaim MLA Ramkrishna Dhavalikar said that the state government should have resigned within 24 hours of Malik’s statement. “All the ministers should have submitted their resignation to the governor,” he said.
